TDS for FD at SBI is deducted on 31st March (once a year). They do deduct very small amounts of TDS 2-3 times a year, but bulk of TDS is deducted on 31st March. ICICI deducts TDS every quarter. So, a given amount of money kept for the same duration at the same interest rate at both SBI and ICICI, will result in SBI giving you more money at end of maturity. So, go with SBI as they will give you more after TDS. Use the calculator to see how much more. Most of the public banks deduct TDS yearly (similar to SBI), so it’s always advantageous to go with public banks (SBI, Syndicate Bank, etc) than private banks (ICICI, HDFC, etc).
I want to ask about tds schedule of SBI regarding fixed deposits. I mean to say at what time it deducts tds…in march or april…??
